Terms and Conditions for Hotel Bookings

General

This website is operated by travelwindow AG with the head office in Zurich (Switzerland). Travelwindow is a subsidiary of the internationally active Hotelplan AG, which in turn belongs to the Federation of Migros Co-operatives.

Our hotel booking module allows direct booking of hotel rooms and other accommodations world-wide. Our service is based on information provided by hotels, hotel chains and hotel brokers. We do our utmost to continually update our data records to ensure that they are free from errors. We can, however, neither guarantee this nor accept responsibility for any incorrect entries.

Data protection

Travelwindow respects your privacy and does not provide any information to third parties. Our credit card payment system also uses the latest technology and is operated by our partners Saferpay/Telekurs in Zurich (Switzerland).

Payments

Generally, all hotel bookings must be paid for prior to travelling. You can either pay upon receipt of invoice (giro bank) or by credit card. As a giro bank transfer normally takes several days, we generally always request payment by credit card for bookings made within 10 days from the date of travel. For customers residing outside of Switzerland payment can only be made by credit card.

Dispatch of hotel voucher

Upon receipt of payment we will issue a hotel voucher in electronic format. This must be printed out and presented at check-in.

Cancellation and change of reservation

Most hotels do not charge a percentage-based cancellation fee of the booking amount. But in certain countries and during certain dates (fairs, high season) hotels do, however, charge fees that can be up to 100% of the accommodation cost, depending on the date of cancellation. Respective details are shown on the booking overview and are also specified in your email confirmation.

Irrespective of the cancellation fee charged by the hotel, Travelwindow charges a handling fee of SFr. 60.- / € 40.- per order for cancellations and changes.

Hotel categories

The Standard International Star rating provides a non-binding reference to the hotel standard. Please do note, however, that the star rating is awarded by local hotel associations and does not always correspond to international standards.

Overbooking and re-booking

Unfortunately it can happen that hotels accept more bookings than the number of rooms they actually have available. This can occur especially during the high seasons. Naturally, we and our hotel partners do our utmost to prevent such occurrences. Should such a situation occur despite of our efforts, we will work together with the hotel and our local representative to offer alternative accommodation of the same standard. In the event of no accommodation of the same standard being available we will naturally refund the difference in price between the booked and the actually allocated hotel (up to a maximum of the total amount of the original booking) as well as any taxi/phone costs (up to Fr. 200.- /€ 120.-) caused by the rebooking. Respective receipts/bills must be presented by the client. Any claim for reimbursement expires 30 days after departure from the hotel.

Applicable law

Swiss law shall apply. The place of jurisdiction is Zurich.
